LEAKED: At the Bottom

Wait
I watched you throw out your bouquet
Now i think about you everyday
I’m alone now in my bed

And there’s a lake
And at the bottom you’ll find all our friends
They don’t swim cause they’re all dead
We never are what we intend, or invent

‘Cause I make little lies and then I pull them apart
Think something dark’s living down in my heart
And if I wanted to die before I got old
I should’ve started some years ago digging that hole

Well I carry this box to the proper place
And when I lower it down
I let it you fade away
I hope that you would do this for me
I’d serve you drugs on a silver plate
If I thought it would help you get away
I hope that you would do this for me

A deer,
That a hunter shot in the heart
Some dogs that got hit by cars
All came to spill their guts

And we spoke
About the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost
And which songs we had loved the most
And then we all turned to dirt
And dust
Some men die under the mountain just looking for gold
Some die looking for a hand to hold

Well I carry this box to its proper place
And when I lower it down
I let you fade away
I know that you would do this for me
I’d serve you drugs on a silver plate
If I thought it would help you get away
I hope that you would do this for me

I’m slowly bringing you down from the Heavenly gates
Now I’m drowning in the flood I made
Well explain myself to me on the other side
I’ll watch from Heaven when I die

Well I carry this box to the proper place
And when I lower it down
I let you fade away
I know that you would do this for me
I’d serve you drugs on a silver plate
If I thought it would help you get away
I hope that you would do this for me

What the fuck……..hahaha. Check after the break for the commentary.

BITE THEIR SHINY METAL ASS, Comedy Central!

For those of you that care, the original cast of Futurama will be returning to Comedy Central for the 26 episode new season, not the lame replacement voices they wanted to use to save on money! I’m sure they never really planned on not having the original cast be a part of the show though, they just wanted to hold out for lower cost!

(sorry this was so useless, its early)

Count down to the new BN album

Album art for Daisy. I like the different layers of the picture that call attention; first the fox, then the balls of light, then the grass, and finally the trees

Album art for Daisy. I like the different "layers" of the picture that call attention; first the fox, then the balls of light, then the grass, and finally the trees

I’ve been able to surpress my emotions about a new Brand New album coming out, but the other night it hit me and now I am counting down the grains of sand  in the hour glass till the new album “Daisy” comes out on September 22nd.

For those of you who don’t know, Amazon has a preview of the new single “At The Bottom”, which sounds promising (and a bit like Modest Mouse, though I don’t think it is an intentional imitation). After hearing that preview, spoiling myself with small snippets of the new song they’ve been playing live called “Bed”, and listening to “Gasoline” and “Bought a Bride”, along with the artwork for the album, Sarah and myself feel this album is going to be very simple. None of the songs sound very “dense” or “thick”; their is usually one element being emphasized in the song (and in the album art). This is a huge change from The Devil and God, which sometimes felt like a body where all the neurons were firing at once. I will qualify all of this with Jesse’s recent statement in Kerrang! where he said that “It’s a pretty exhausting record. It’s quite dense and I think some of the decisions we made don’t always go in the most obvious direction. We were thinking a lot more about what we’d want to play when we were up onstage rather than actually what you’d want to hear on a record.” However, when he says dense, I don’t think he means that the sound of the album will be dense, but that what is presented in the album will be complex to digest fully.

This new album also marks the last album in Brand New’s contract with Interscope, something they’re been waiting for for a while now might be the last album on their contract with Interscope (thanks Jamie). They are markedly against bands signing to labels due to the obligatory nature of the contracts that are signed. Jesse frequently has mentioned that he would rather have someone pay for their own recording and distribute the music themselves then sign a record contract. On a clip on youtube, Jesse talks about how this is the last record they’ll physically press on CDs because of the changing popularity of media formats (from CDs to music files), but I have a feeling it is also a nod to the fact that they might be self-releasing all of their albums online now that they’ve (possibly) fulfilled their contract with Interscope (sort of like what Radiohead did, but not quite).

All in all, I’m excited to hear this new album. Gasoline and Bride seem to have a context now and aren’t so diasppointing anymore, and the slue of upcoming shows (of which I’m trying to go October 3rd in Chicago at the Aragon) will be very enjoyable. Be sure to listen to the new single Monday when it is release on Myspace for free listening.

yoko OH NO!!!!!!

Atleast its a picture of Megan Fox

Ah man, I’m kind of upset. If you guys remember, a couple posts ago I updated about P!ATD reinjecting some exclamation points and preparing to go in a new direction sans two members. Well, in preparation to hear their new music, I’ve been listening to A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out alot lately (I think thats one of the best albums I’ve ever bought even though its a bit scene-y), remembering how awesome it is. Unfortunately, it doesn’t sound like P!ATD is going back in that direction. Their new single “New Directions” starts out with a YEAH!!!!! that sets the tone for a below mediocre song. I swear to god, this is exactly what happened to The Academy Is…Come on everyone….less crappy pop, more awesome.

Here’s the link to their myspace which has the new song.

Adventures in Drunking

We all do it. Drunk dialing is the number two cause of embarrasing mornings, second only to the coyote ugly experience. But since I’ve only been taking one girl home for the past couple years, I haven’t had that experience, so drunk dialing is my biggest source of morning ridiculousness. Last night was no exception. I called a handful of people, and if I called you, I pray to god I didn’t say anything vulgar.
But a) how embarrassed should you be after a night of drunk dialing (and the revolutionary drunk Facebooking, of which i am also a pro), and b) how nice should the person on the other end of the call be??

Just got home

New Orleans…cool, but kind of smelly. But hey where else can you get a to-go cup from Big Ass Beers To Go for $3? Thats right, no where.

Sleep now.

ORGANIC SNOBS CAN KISS IT!

I have been telling people forever that there is nothing better about eating organic foods excpet for the fact that people might think you’re more cultured even though you’re really not. And now the BBC has finally backed me up.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/8174482.stm

Read it and weep suckaaaaaaas! Next time you’re at Saharamart getting your organically grown vitamin C (which is exactly the same chemical compound and synthesized vitamin C), I hope you’re driving there in your Prius with your cloud of smug trailing behind you.

Before the N.O. (w/ link to fun game you must play)

So, day before I leave for New Orleans for the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity National Convention, of which I will be a voting member, and I decided to get myself a new Moleskin (plain notebook paper so I can draw ideas and write. The lined paper was annoying to draw on). I also go Drake’s So Far Gone mixtape, which is really good. Everyone’s heard Best I Ever Had already, but his new “single”, Successful, is such a good track. So good in fact, that I put it at the top of the post. Sorry its such poor quality audio though. I know alot of people who listen to this can’t stand that bitty sound that comes along with crappy quality audio tracks.

Also, I’ve come across the best game for any physics major ever (and other people too). Its called Gravity Master. You have to make stuff to get a ball from point A to B. Sounds easy enough right? Ha….. just play the first couple levels and you’ll see how frustrating it gets.

I’ll make sure to post pictures while I’m down in the Big Easy and keep those of you who are interested in keeping up with the National Convention up to date on happenings. Kind of like a SAE National Convention liveblog.

WHAT! NEW FUTURAMA VOICES?!?!!?

What the fuzzy….

The stars had all expressed interest in returning. But with the budget for “Futurama” dramatically slashed, the salary offers came in well below what the thesps were asking — believed to be around $75,000 per episode. (It was not clear what 20th was offering. Calls to the voice stars’ reps were not immediately returned.)

As a result, 20th has put out a casting call to find replacement voice actors for the show. According to insiders, a deal could eventually be struck that brings the original voice actors back — but for now, the studio said it’s serious about finding replacements.

-From Variety

Are you fluffing kidding me? You can’t just do that! I cannot believe that they are even considering reviving Futurama if they’re going to change the voices. It’ll probably end up being a disaster! And I was so excited. I hope that everyone finally stops sucking and comes to a financial agreement so we can actually have the original voice people back.

Stewie Griffin knows what I’m talking about:
